Work out with an eye on your heart

The Polar A3 Heart Rate Monitor is a wireless monitor that fits on your wrist, allowing you to set your heart-rate limits for maximum workout safety and effectiveness. It has high and low alarms, letting you know when you are in your heart-rate zone, and the large display is easy to read and use. It costs about $80, batteries included, at REI stores (800-426-4840, www.rei.com).

Things in place, anyplace When you are on the road, searching through layers of clothing in your suitcase for that certain something can be extra frustrating. High Sierra has a down-to-earth solution with its Endeavors ``Executive'' luggage. A piece opens like a cupboard: Two hinged compartments flip open to reveal a larger main section. Pack your clothes in the main section, your shoes in the zippered pocket of the larger, flip-over, hinged compartment, and your toiletries in the third section -- and everything is there, easy to reach. The 22-inch bag features a recessed, locking telescope handle; a soft, nonslip handle for lifting and carrying; and wheels like those on in-line skates for easy rolling. Made of polyester with a ballistic nylon bottom, it comes with a removable suit holder (with two hangers, almost like a slim garment bag), and a tow-strap that allows you to attach your carry-on bag or briefcase. It costs $179 (the 26-inch bag $199, and the overnight bag, with five compartments, $59), and is available through the Magellan's catalog (800-962-4943, www.magellans.com) and at www.sinsimmia.com and www.luggagebase.com.
