Follow your nose

Caswell-Massey's solid perfumes are ideal for traveling: nothing to leak or spill, no bottles to break. The solid, balm base is infused with fragrance, so the scent lasts longer than conventional alcohol-based perfumes and colognes (and with no animal products used). A screw-top jar (.18 ounce) costs $10 to $12; choose from classic florals like lily of the valley, lilac, freesia, and English lavender, or a signature scent like "Elixir of Love No. 1" (a blend of jasmine, lavender, musk, and passion flower). Available at Caswell-Massey stores, through their catalog (800-326-0500), and online at www.caswellmassey.com.

Clean up your act

Shout wipes are a godsend on trips when you have no access to laundry facilities and you just dropped food on your favorite shirt. These individually wrapped, pretreated, 5-by-6-inch towelettes work best at removing organic stains like coffee, food, and blood, but also can minimize damage caused by leaky pens, rust, and lipstick. Safe for all colorfast fabrics and most dry-clean-only ones, too, a package of 12 costs about $4 at grocery and drug stores.

Highlight your profile

In an effort to reduce the number of pedestrians, cyclists, runners, and skaters injured in traffic accidents, Boston-based F.C. Industries Inc. has launched a line of clothing called CautionYield. In the belief that non-motorists on the road should "be seen and be safe," the white T-shirts, sweatshirts, tank tops, backpacks, and jerseys have "Drive with CAUTION. YIELD" emblazoned on the back in Day-Glo colors, along with "Runner in Road," "Cyclist in Road," "Student in Road," and other designations. They cost $14 to $42 each, depending on style, and are available at www.cautionyield.com or by calling 800-568-0048.
